Washington, DC Mellon auditorium
Events don’t come much more high profile than this one— the largest meeting of world leaders ever held in our nation’s capital. This historic event, the largest meeting of world leaders ever held in our nation’s capital, took place at the site of the original NATO treaty signing, with forty-four heads of state plus innumerable other world luminaries that came together to celebrate NATO’s past and determine its future. Held at the site of the original NATO signing treaty Mellon Auditorium, in Washington DC. The NATO 50th Anniversary Summit and Commemorative Event was actually two events: The re-signing of the treaty, and the plenary sessions—which lasted two days. The presence of President Clinton and the other heads of state required the entire area around the auditorium (12 square blocks) be closed down by the secret service and other security agencies.
